FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. --- Freshman Pol Vassart scored his third goal of the year, but the Lees-McRae men's soccer squad suffered a 2-1 loss in double overtime against Emmanuel (Ga.) in Conference Carolinas play Saturday afternoon in Franklin Springs, Ga.
The Lions (5-4-2, 3-2-2) earned the victory thanks to a pair of Blair Springhall assists. The Bobcats (4-6, 2-3) outshot EC 6-3 in the first half.
Vassart (Arnhem, France) put LMC up early with a goal at the 15:18 mark while James Morgan (Newcastle, England) notched the assist.
The Bobcats have notched at least one goal in four of their first conference tilts.
EC tied it off the foot of Martin Mitreski in the 50th minute.
Neither team would muster much of an opportunity until LMC's Thomas Deeley (Timaru, New Zealand) put a shot on frame in the waning moments of the first OT session.
EC netted the golden goal at the 105:56 mark.
LMC outshot EC 11-10.
The Bobcats travel to Mars Hill, Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Mars Hill, N.C.
