FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. --- Seniors Mallory Overholt and Sarah Mahar tallied a goal while leading the Lees-McRae women's soccer to team to a 2-0 win against Conference Carolinas foe Emmanuel (Ga.) Saturday afternoon in Franklin Springs, Ga.
The Bobcats (3-7, 2-3 CC) earned their third clean slate of the year while freshman Alexis Feely (Wake Forest, N.C.) made six saves. The Lions (2-7, 2-4) outshot the opposition, 11-7.
Coach Kiko Magaña's team took an early lead after Overholt (Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada) converted on a penalty kick in the 13th minute.
LMC used strong defense, and a pesky offense early in the second half. Following a pair of corner kicks, Mahar (Jacksonville, N.C.) made it 2-0 at the 55:23 mark.
The Bobcats step out of conference play when they welcome Catawba Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. in a Breast Cancer Awareness Match at Tate Field.
