WILSON, N.C. --- Five players tallied at least five kills, but the Lees-McRae women's volleyball team fell 18-25, 21-25, 19-25, to Barton Saturday afternoon at Wilson Gymnasium in Wilson, N.C.
The Bulldogs (10-8, 5-3 Conference Carolinas) swung better than .220 in each set while Stephanie Pingyin impressed with 17 kills. The Bobcats (4-13, 3-5) saw senior Allyson Schillinger produce a double-double (17 assists, 13 digs).
She led the team in both categories.
BC led wire-to-wire in the opening frame despite LMC cutting the deficit to two on three separate occasions. Sophomore Laneica Williams (Conover, N.C.) kept the Bobcats in it with a pair of kills.
The Bulldogs responded after a timeout by producing a 6-0 run.
Madison Martin (Goldboro, N.C.) and Rachel Cutshaw (Whitesburg, Tenn.) sparked a 16-7 run to open the second with a pair of kills and an ace.
The home squad responded with an 18-5 run, powered by consecutive kills from Hayley Marshburn.
BC jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the third. LMC cut it to five following a Jordan Banta (Virginia Beach, Va.) kill.
The Bulldogs used Pingyin's final kill to conclude the match.
Junior Avalon Liscio (Naples, Fla.) led the Bobcats with seven kills.
LMC welcomes UVa.-Wise (3 p.m.) and Brevard (7 p.m.) Tuesday for a tri-match in Williams Gymnasium.
