Scrappy Bobcats Fall to Limestone, 3-1

GAFFNEY, S.C. --- Senior Jariliz Cotté and junior Avalon Liscio notched a dozen kills each, but the Lees-McRae women's volleyball team fell to Limestone, 18-25, 27-29, 25-15, 16-25, in Conference Carolinas action Saturday evening at Timken Center in Gaffney, S.C.

The Saints (15-6, 9-5) rode shoulder of Darla Svoboda, who led all players with 18 kills while home team honored their seniors prior the match. The Bobcats (6-19, 5-9) had a trio of players with double-digit digs, led by sophomore Madison Martin (Goldsboro, N.C.) with 21.

Junior Haylee Leonard (Wallburg, N.C.) continued her impressive play of late and mashed a kill to give LMC an early 7-6 advantage in the first.

LC responded with a 12-6 run after a trio of Bobcat attack errors.

Cotté and senior Jordan Banta (Virginia Beach, Va.) produced kills late in the first, but the Saints were able to put away the first set with a 4-0 run.

The second set was tightly contested while neither team would lead by more than three.

Trailing 15-13, coach William Tatge's squad produced a 6-1 run to take a 19-16 lead following kills from Allyson Schillinger (Spring Hill, Fla.) and Banta.

Schillinger led the Bobcats with 20 assists.

The Saints rallied back and eventually took a 24-23 lead.

LMC staved off match point thanks to a service error. Leonard stymied two more match point attempts from the Saints with a pair of kills.

LC would sneak out the second-set win after kills from Natalie Tucker and Svoboda.

The Bobcats dispatched the Saints in the third when they jumped out to a 17-7 lead following kills from three different players.

LMC swung at a match-best .333 in the set.

The Saints jumped out to a 17-9 advantage in the fourth before claiming the set despite consecutive kills from sophomore Rachel Cutshaw (Whitesburg, Tenn.)

Cotté finished with 19 digs while Courtney Weathersbee (Raleigh, N.C.) contributed with 17 assists.

The Bobcats welcome Mount Olive Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. for a CC bout.
