BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae women's soccer team suffered a shutout loss to Conference Carolinas foe Belmont Abbey, 1-0, Wednesday afternoon at Tate Field in Banner Elk, N.C.
The Crusaders (7-2-1, 5-0 CC) remain perfect in conference play and outshot LMC 14-8. The Bobcats (2-7, 1-3) saw goalie Alexis Feely (Wake Forest, N.C.) produce seven saves.
BAC's Jillian Lang notched her second goal of the season at the 13:37 mark when she crept a shot past Feely from 21 yards out. Cierra Skyers and Tallee Zamiela garnered assists on the play.
Senior Sarah Mahar (Jacksonville, Fla.) put a shot on frame, but was stonewalled by Megan Bowen at the 20:14 mark.
With less than 25 minutes remaining, senior Mallory Overholt (Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada) gave LMC its best opportunity to score when she sent a shot screaming, however, it went high.
Mahar paced LMC with two shots while six other players recorded a shot.
The Bobcats travel to Franklin Springs, Ga. Saturday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. to battle Emmanuel (Ga.).
