JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. --- Freshman Kara Travis collected a pair of hits while the Lees-McRae softball fell to Carson-Newman, 8-0, before dropping a 7-0 decision to Davis & Elkins Friday afternoon at The Vick in Jefferson City, Tenn.

The Eagles (9-2) enjoyed three-hit performances from Bre Lockett and Brooke Ramsey while Haley Taylor chipped in with two hits and a pair of RBI's.
In the top of the second, LMC's Kirsten Waters (Umatilla, Fla.) wore a pitch before a Travis (Conover, N.C.) single put runners on first and second.
The Bobcats (1-8) threatened to score, but a strike out and fly out ended the scoring opportunity.
CNU used three singles up the middle, including a two-run knock by Taylor to take a 2-0 lead after two innings of play.
Sophomore Valerie Hickey (Umatilla, Fla.) exhibited patience at the dish by drawing a pair of walks on the day while the team only struck out once in the contest.
The Eagles ran away with it in the fifth after putting up a six spot.
Sarah Howard drilled a two-run homerun to left following an LMC error. Consecutive triples from Kristen Toppel and Talisa Fiame plated two more runs.
CNU wreaked havoc on the base paths with a double steal that resulted in a run. A Ramsey RBI single enforced the run rule in the bottom of the fifth.
Sophomore Taylor Billings (1-4) (Sophia, N.C.) took the loss after allowing three earned runs in four innings. CNU's Lindsay Dean (5-1) earned the win after five innings of shutout ball.

The Senators (1-0) grabbed their first win of the season with five of their six RBI's coming from the middle of the order.
Both offenses were held at bay through the first two innings. D&E took a 1-0 lead after Taylor Norton got plunked with the bases loaded.
Alexandra Lapallo plated two runs with a single to right before Kayla Whoolery drove a run in with a double to center.
Bobcat (1-9) Freshman Sara Weatherholtz (Hampton, Ga.) used her speed to get into scoring position after singling to third and stealing second.
The Senators' Lapallo pitched her way out of trouble with a groundout and flyout.
D&E tallied two more runs in the fourth after a leadoff triple and a trio of singles.
Travis spanked a double off the wall in the seventh, but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple.
Sarah Beth Ashley (Walkertown, N.C.) notched a double in the fifth.
Sophomore Charlie Dutton (0-3) suffered the loss after lasting 3.2 innings. Lapallo (1-0) went the distance and scattered three hits.
LMC returns to Jefferson City, Tenn. Saturday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. to play Indiana Wesleyan before battling Carson-Newman at 3 p.m.
