LMC Softball Concludes Play at Spring Games

CLERMONT, Fla. --- The Lees-McRae softball team concluded its play at the Spring Games with a pair of losses Wednesday at Hancock Field in Clermont, Fla.

St. Xavier 3, Lees-McRae 0

The Cougars (7-1-1) produced all of its offense in the fourth by taking advantage of two LMC errors.

Jessica Arebalo came around to score the game's first run following a throwing error in the bottom of the fourth. Arebalo reached on a one-out double to left center.

Rebeka Ferguson notched two RBI with a chopper up the middle, despite a spectacular play from Teresa Dickson (Lexington, N.C.).

The Bobcats' (3-16) Sarah Stallings (Greensboro, N.C.) continued her torrid run with a leadoff single in the first and two stolen bases in the game.

SXU's Nicole Nonnemacher stole the show with a complete game effort and 16 strikeouts.

LMC's Charlie Dutton (Monroe, Ga.) (1-7) was the hard luck loser after not allowing an earned run.

Millersville 7, Lees-McRae 1 (5 Innings)

The Marauders (7-6) exploded for seven runs in the opening frame, including a two-run bomb to straightaway center off the bat of Brittany Smith.

The game was limited to five innings due to local curfew and lightening.

Danielle DiFilippo plated two more runs later in the inning with a single to center.

Bobcat (3-17) freshman Kolleen Spears (Hickory, N.C.) recorded her first collegiate hit and RBI with a base hit to center in the bottom of the second.

Six MU starters recorded a hit while pitcher Cassidy Pinchorski went the distance in the win.

LMC travels to Flagler for a twin bill starting at 4 p.m. in Flager, Fla. Thursday, March 12.
