Men's Tennis Strong in Doubles Play; Falls at King (Tenn.), 6-3

BRISTOL, Tenn. --- Five Lees-McRae men's tennis players grabbed a win in either singles or doubles play, but the team fell, 6-3, in Conference Carolinas play to King (Tenn.) Friday afternoon at King Tennis Courts in Bristol, Tenn.

The Tornado (6-11, 5-5 CC) earned five wins in singles play while Luis Delgado and Moritz Poswiat grabbed two wins each. The Bobcats (5-13, 2-6) are a ½ game up on Erskine for the eighth and final spot in the Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Tournament.

LMC got off to a hot start when Carlos Pinel (Vitoria, Espírito Santo, Brazil) and Gabriel Muniz (Soao, Brazil) outmuscled Lennard Kesani and Seth Carelli, 8-5, in No. 2 doubles.

The duo of Hang Lak Choi (Newton, N.C.) and Sebastian Zuhr (Burlington, N.C.) breezed past Makar Grytesevych and Ankith Madasani at No. 3 doubles, 8-2.

King took a 4-2 advantage after claiming No. 1-3 singles and No. 1 doubles.

Bobcats' Garrett Lakey (North Wilkesboro, N.C.) snagged a win at No. 4 singles by handling Carelli, 6-0, 6-4.

Zuhr dropped a tough tight battle at No. 6 singles, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 9-11.

LMC travels to Due West, S.C. to tangle with Erskine in a crucial CC match Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m.
