AIKEN, S.C. --- The Lees-McRae women's volleyball team was swept by Nova Southeastern, but responded with a drubbing of Fayetteville State on the second day of the USC Aiken Invitational Saturday at the Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C.

The Sharks (5-1) stood tall while amassing seven solo blocks and 12 block assists in the win. The Bobcats (0-7) saw Jariliz Cotté and Jordan Banta produce 13 kills each.
The first set was an offensive slugfest while both teams hit better than .320.
Dana Holger and Denvyr Tyler-Palmer paced NSU with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
Sophomore Madison Martin (Goldsboro, N.C.) continued her impressive campaign with 12 digs while Allyson Schillinger (Spring Hill, Fla.) led the way with 11 assists.
Lees-McRae 3, Fayetteville State 0
The Bobcats (1-7) earned their first win of the season while four players had at least five kills. The Broncos (0-4) remain winless and struggled mightily by only hitting at a .050 clip on the match.
Schillinger sparked an 8-0 run in the second with a pair of service aces while Rachel Cutshaw (Whitesburg, Tenn.) produced a pair of kills. LMC won the set 25-8.
Cotté bashed out a pair of kills, capping off a 7-0 run in the third.
Junior Haylee Leonard (Wallburg, N.C.) used consecutive kills to cap the sweep.
Senior Jordan Banta (Virginia Beach, Va.) paced the team with nine kills.
Martin dominated with 19 digs.
Coach William Tatge's squad travels to Pfeiffer Tuesday, Sep. 15 at 7 p.m. to open Conference Carolinas play in Misenheimer, N.C.
