UNC Pembroke edges Lees-McRae in double overtime Monday, 1-0

PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team held UNC Pembroke off the scoreboard for 108 minutes of action Monday evening until UNCP's Kate Weisner scored the game-winning goal in the 109th minute to lift her team to a 1-0 win over the Bobcats in double overtime. The loss moves Lees-McRae's record to 3-9-2 on the season.

The Braves peppered the Bobcat defense with shots throughout the contest Monday. UNCP ended up outshooting Lees-McRae 32-6 overall, including a 10-1 margin in shots on goal. The Braves also held a 19-2 advantage in corner kicks as well.

Offensively, LMC was led by freshman Kiara Montenegro who totaled two of the team's six shots on the night. Nikki Torres, Autumn Esposito, Tegan Dean and Riley Neese also registered shots for Lees-McRae.

Alexis Feely suffered the loss in goal for the Bobcats Monday despite making nine saves in 10 chances. Feely's loss dips her record to 3-8-2 on the season.

Lees-McRae will return to action Saturday when it hosts Erskine College at Tate Field. The match, which will also be the team's senior day, is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start time.
