Carney becomes the program all-time point leader, but Bobcats fall 13-12

DAVENPORT, Fla. – Dane Carney became the top all-time point scorer in the history of Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse Friday, but the Bobcats fell to Notre Dame de Namur by a score of 13-12. The loss dips Lees-McRae's record to 2-4 on the season.

Carney led LMC with seven points (5g, 2a) Friday against the Argonauts. The Manchester, England native now has 137 points in his career as a Bobcat. Carney is now the program's all-time leader in points and goals with 83.

In addition to the offensive production by Carney, Alec Molander, Wyatt Daziel, Blaine Stottlar and Tanner Jones all chipped in points as well. Molander paced the team with four assists. In goal, Cameron Castle took the loss dropping his record to 2-4. Castle did make five saves on Friday.

As the score would indicate, not much separated the two teams in the contest. Both teams won 13 face offs with Ryan Beauchamp leading LMC in that category with nine wins. NDNU picked up 47 groundballs compared to 40 for the Bobcats. William Eagle paced the Bobcats with seven groundballs with Caleb Culverhouse and Chris Lamay not far behind with six and five, respectively.

LMC will return to action Wednesday when it hosts Tusculum at Tate Field. The first faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
