Men's Lacrosse sets new program record for wins in a season with a 14-13 win over Brevard

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team made history Tuesday night at Tate Field when it defeated Brevard College by a score of 14-13. With the win, the Bobcats have set a new record for wins in a single season for the program with four.

Sophomore Alec Molander accounted for eight points (5g, 3a) by himself on Tuesday. In addition to Molander's performance, Blaine Stottlar and Dane Carney posted three-goal outings as well. Wyatt Daziel, Tanner Jones and Cole Wyatt also found the back of the net against the Tornados. Jones's goal, which gives the junior 13 goals in 2017, proved to be the game-winning marker with 7:38 to go in regulation.

Cameron Castle made 13 saves in 26 attempts in the contest to pick up his fourth win of the season. Castle also led LMC in ground balls Tuesday with four. Molander, Ryan Beauchamp and Christopher Lamay also had four pickups in the contest as well.

LMC, now 4-7 in 2017, will step back into conference play Friday when it travels to Chowan. It will be the first ever meeting between the two programs as the Hawks are in their first season of competition. The first faceoff is set for 3 p.m.
