BANNER ELK, N.C. – Belmont Abbey College snapped the Lees-McRae College women's basketball team's four-game winning streak Tuesday night at Williams Gymnasium as it defeated the Bobcats, 72-58. The loss moves LMC to 10-15 overall and 7-12 in league action.

The opening half of Tuesday's game was all Belmont Abbey. The Crusaders nearly doubled up the Bobcats in the first 20 minutes outscoring LMC 44-24. A major reason for BAC's hot start was its work on the glass as it out-rebounded the Bobcats, 29-16. The duo of Breana Hardnett and Meg Crawford handled the bulk of the scoring in the first half with nine and eight points, respectively.

Belmont Abbey would grow its lead a couple more points to 22 in the early stages of the second half. The Bobcats would chip away to get within 12 of the Crusaders but that's as close as they would come as the latter held on for the 72-58 win.

Crawford ended Tuesday's game with a career-high 22 points to go along with 10 rebounds to lead Lees-McRae. The only other double figure scorer for LMC on the night was Hardnett, who finished with 11 points.

Lees-McRae will close out its regular season Friday night when it hosts rival King University at Williams Gymnasium. The tip-off for that game is set for 5:30 p.m.
