Andrew Sparks captured first and second place in the 80-mile Gran route, with junior
Liam Flanagan finishing fifth, to pace the Bobcats at the Hincapie Gran Fondo in Greenville, South Carolina this afternoon.

MEN'S NOTABLES:
- Armstrong finished with a total race time of 50:57.0 by winning the Skyuka Climb portion with a time of 22:24.0, before closing out both the Green River Climb and Hincapie Sportswear Climb sections in third place.
- Sparks crossed the finish line only nine seconds after Armstrong with a combined race time of 51:06.0, after winning the Green River Climb section in 10:57.0 and posting a second-place finish in the Skyuka climb in 22:32.0
- Flanagan raced to a fifth-place finish in the Gran route with a time of 54.29.0, while placing first in the Hincapie Sportswear Climb section in 2:45.0.
- Freshman Andrew Strohmeyer was the only other Lees-McRae to be featured in the top-10 of the Gran route as he finished ninth with a total race time of 56:24.0.
WOMEN'S NOTABLES:
- Sophomore Mady Rails paced the Bobcat's women's team as she was the fifth female cyclist to cross the finish line in the 80-mile Gran route with a combined race time of 1:12:35.0, while posting the fifth-fastest overall time in the Hincapie Sportswear Climb section in 4:05.0.
- Senior Dagny Palmer finished as the tenth-fastest female cyclist with a total race time of 1:24.06.
UP NEXT
Lees-McRae will return to the trail next Wednesday for an intra-squad race starting at 3:30 p.m., before traveling to Bristol, Tenn. on Saturday, Oct. 31 for the King University Halloween Cyclocross race starting at 4:00 p.m.
