MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. –
Zach Aversano and
Tamino Brown scored a pair of second-half goals a little under seven minutes apart, while
Joshua Garvilla finished with a game-high five saves, to lead the Lees-McRae men's soccer team to a convincing 2-1 win over regionally-ranked Mount Olive, who were previously unbeaten in conference play, in the conference contest this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both Lees-McRae and Mount Olive were limited to only one shot in the first, with the lone Bobcat shot coming from Brown in the 14th minute, as the score remained 0-0 after the first 45 minutes of action.
- The Bobcats finally broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute as Aversano scored his fourth goal of the season on a free kick.
- Lees-McRae extended its lead to 2-0 in the 59th minute as Brown collected a pass from Fletcher Dyson and buried the shot past the goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the season.
- Mount Olive chipped into the deficit with a goal in the 72nd minute and had multiple chances to even the score late in the contest.
- Three timely saves by Garvilla held the score intact as the Bobcats held on for the conference victory.
- Mount Olive held a 12-5 edge in shots and a slim 6-5 advantage in shots-on-goal.
FOR THE FOES:
- Guilherme Siqueria scored the lone goal for the Trojans.
- Axel Engren finished with three saves.
