BANNER ELK, N.C. – Three Bobcats scored in double figures, led by
MaKayla Smith with a career-high 20 points, but it was not enough as Converse shot over 55 percent from behind the three-point line to clinch an 83-72 road victory over Lees-McRae in the Conference Carolinas action this evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Smith finished 8 of 13 from the field to pace the Bobcats in scoring, while also chipping in five rebounds and three steals.
- Jessica Henderson added 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds off the bench.
- Arriana Lizarraga tallied 10 points and six rebounds, while Malikah Meyers and Aurora Roberts chipped in eight and seven points respectively.
- Converse sprinted out of the gate with a quick 7-2 run and held the momentum for the entire first frame to claim a 21-18 lead after the first 10 minutes of action.
- The Bobcats chipped away at the lead for the majority of the second quarter, until a late free throw by Converse extended the lead to 36-31 at halftime.
- Lees-McRae closed the gap to three points at multiple points in the third stanza, but failed to claim the lead as the Valkyries held a 59-48 lead at the final intermission.
- Converse maintained a sizeable lead for the remainder of the contest to escape with the win.
- The Bobcats held a 38-24 edge in points in the painted area, but were outshot 10-3 in made three-point field goals and 27-17 in free throws.
FOR THE FOES:
- Keyshuna Fair scored a game-high 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to pace the Valkyries.
- Lindsey Hardin added 17 points, while Jordan Brown chipped in five points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
