BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae men's soccer team pushed undefeated Chowan to the limit, with goals coming from
C. Johan Hedberg and
Eduardo Olavide, but the Hawks scored a game-winning goal with just under nine minutes remaining to claim the conference victory this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lees-McRae opened the scoring at the 15-minute mark as Hedberg received a pass on the free-kick by Zachary Aversano and buried the header in the bottom corner to give the Bobcats an early lead.
- Chowan scored a pair of goals before the halftime whistle to claim a 2-1 lead after 45 minutes of action.
- Olavide evened the score at the 69-minute mark as he scored a rebound shot off an initial shot by Marco Antonio Medeiros.
- The Hawks capitalized on a corner kick in the 82nd minute to clinch the road victory.
- Chowan held an 11-6 edge in shots, while the Bobcats held a slim 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
