COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The USA Cycling Academic All-Star Program announced the recipients of the academic award for the 2020 collegiate seasons, recognizing student-athletes who have maintained a 3.5 or higher GPA in either the spring or fall semester, honoring 27 cyclists from Lees-McRae College.
"We emphasize academics first on our team because winning begins in the classroom," said Head Cycling Coach
Tim Hall. "To achieve this level of success during COVID-19, adjusting to virtual classrooms, dealing with strict protocols, says a lot about the determination and focus of our athletes despite not having collegiate races to enjoy. We congratulate all the cyclists who made the list because it best exemplifies the spirit of collegiate cycling."
Normally, this group is announced twice a year (February and September). However, due to the forced cancellations of the 2020 collegiate seasons, USA Cycling has named a COVID-19 edition of the Academic All-Stars program for all student-athletes that meet the qualifications.
