BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae cheerleading team, under head coach
Sally Wimberley, had a strong performance last Saturday at the Lees-McRae Showcase in the program's first time performing on the newly-converted Tate Field.
"Seeing this team finally get to be on the mat and perform what they've been working on all year was incredible," said Wimberley. "The team has spent most of the season practicing in pods, so trying to get all the pods together was a big task, but we succeeded with a great attitude. We've had to overcome several obstacles this season, like people being out for injuries or quarantine, forcing us to make changes to our routine. However, this team took it all in stride, worked together, and gave us a performance to be proud of! I am so thankful for all of their hard work, perseverance and dedication. I can't wait to see what we accomplish next year."
In addition to their performance on the field, the cheerleading program honored seniors
Carolina Beth Baker,
McKenzie Jensen,
Ashley Garman, and
Cody Jones for their outstanding careers at Lees-McRae.
