BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team will make its first Conference Carolinas postseason appearance since 2018 as it visits No. 5 King as the No. 8 seed on Thursday, April 8 at 7 p.m.
Scouting the Bobcats…Lees-McRae finished the regular season 2-18 overall and 2-12 in conference play with the pair of victories coming over Belmont Abbey on March 13 and Erskine on March 26. The Bobcats finished third in the conference in blocking with a 2.05 blocks/set average and is second in solo blocks (50) this season.
Sophomore
Michael Marsans led the Bobcats with 165 kills to go along with eight service aces, while senior
Ethan Gardner tallied 125 kills, 25 solo blocks, and 45 block assists. His 25 solo blocks led him to become the program's all-time leader with 62 in his career. Freshman
Riley Chapman has chipped in 415 assists.
Scouting the Tornado…King finished the regular season with a 10-12 overall record and 7-7 conference record to earn the No. 5 seed in the Conference Carolinas Tournament. Joshua Kim leads the conference with 330 kills this season and is third with a 4.07 kill/set average. Diego Marcano has chipped in 190 kills, while Noah Melendez has added 208 digs this season.
What's next…The winner of Thursday's first round action will visit No. 4 Barton on Tuesday, April 13 for a 7 p.m. quarterfinal matchup.
