Ney tallies double-digit kills to lead Women’s Volleyball past Southern Wesleyan in three

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Olivia Ney tallied a match-high 14 kills, while Carlee Allbaugh posted her fourth double-double in the last four matches, to lead the Lees-McRae women's volleyball team to a straight-sets win over Southern Wesleyan to move to 2-0 at home this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Ney also finished with two block assists, while Natasha Colon Moreno added nine kills, five digs, and two block assists.
  • Allbaugh posted 39 assists and 13 digs, with Kaden Hill chipping in seven kills, three block assists, and a solo block.
  • Hailey Gilreath and Lauren Xayavong tallied six kills and 12 digs respectively.
  • Lees-McRae sprinted out of the gates by scoring 16 of the 21 points and used a final service ace by Allbaugh to win the first set 25-17.
  • The Bobcats posted an early lead in the second frame as well by winning 17 of the first 26 points but a 4-0 run by the Warriors trimmed the deficit to 22-16.
  • A pair of final kills by Ney proved the be the difference as Lees-McRae posted a 25-17 win in set two.
  • The Bobcats tallied an 8-0 run at the midway point of the final set and a 5-1 run to close out the game to clinch the conference sweep with a 25-17 win in set three.
  • Lees-McRae held a 41-19 edge in kills, while also maintaining a 6-3 edge in service aces.
 
FOR THE FOES:
  • Amber Bass posted a team-high eight kills and a team-high 13 digs to pace the Warriors.
 
UP NEXT:
The Bobcats will host Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup rival King in a conference showdown on Friday at 7 p.m.
