Women's Volleyball Drops Conference Carolinas Match to North Greenville on Wednesday Night

TIGERVILLE, S.C. -- Lees-McRae women's volleyball fell in straight sets this evening to North Greenville in Conference Carolinas action as Julia Emore paced the Bobcats on the night with six kills and Madison Goins contributed 17 assists in the match.

FINAL SCORE: North Greenville def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-12)
LOCATION: Hayes Gymnasium -- Tigerville, South Carolina
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (4-17/3-8); NGU (15-7/11-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • North Greenville stayed undefeated in conference contests as the Crusaders started the match with an 8-0 run to take the 9-3 lead in the first set. The Crusaders collected the opening set by a final of 25-18 after two kills by Paige Campbell.
  • In the second set, the two sides traded points early on as the Bobcats held the 13-10 lead after four consecutive points. Lees-McRae pushed its leads to 18-14, but NGU earned the second set after scoring another 8-0 run to close the set at 25-20.
  • The third set and the match went the way of North Greenville as the Crusaders won the final set, 25-12, and earned their 11th victory in league action.
  • Emore led the Bobcats with six kills and contributed five assists in the match. Rebecca Ryan followed with five kills as Sydney Stigler, Annalaine Tew, and Destiny Holley all had four kills apiece.
  • Stigler led the defensive end for the Bobcats with 10 digs and Ryan added three blocks to her season totals.

FOR THE CRUSADERS:
  • Campbell had a match-high 18 kills in the match for North Greenville as Abigail Durham followed with 10. 
  • Ashlyn Conner dished out 35 assists for North Greenville in three sets played and Whitley Kahler tallied nine digs in the victory.

UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae is back in South Carolina on Friday for a league match with Erskine. The match is slated to begin at 6 p.m. in Due West.
