Stigler Has Career-High 24 Kills as Women's Volleyball Drops Five-Set Match at Erskine

DUE WEST, S.C. -- Lees-McRae women's volleyball fell short on Friday evening against Erskine as Sydney Stigler had a career-high 24 kills in five sets for the Bobcats.

FINAL SCORE: Erskine def. Lees-McRae, 3-2 (25-16, 25-23, 19-25, 21-25, 15-7)
LOCATION: Galloway Center -- Due West, South Carolina
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (4-18/3-9); Erskine (6-16/2-10)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Stigler paced Lees-McRae on the evening with 24 kills on 61 total attacks as she also chipped in 12 digs for a double-double. Annalaine Tew followed with 12 kills as Madison Goins added 45 assists to her season totals.
  • Bre Adamson led the defensive front for the Bobcats with 21 digs as Goins registered 19 in the contest.
  • Lees-McRae answered back after losing the first two sets to the Flying Fleet on Friday night while winning the final nine out of 10 points in the middle set. Stigler registered a spike as the Bobcats won the set 25-19.
  • The fourth set was all Bobcats as they jumped out to a 7-1 advantage after a kill by Tew. Tew tallied the final kill of the set as Lees-McRae evened the match at two sets with Erskine.
  • Erskine rallied in the fifth and final set as they had an early 5-2 advantage after a hitting error by Stigler. The Flying Fleet picked up their second Conference Carolinas victory of the season after taking the fifth set, 15-7.

FOR THE FLYING FLEET:
  • Erskine knotted the season series at one match apiece after rallying in the fifth set in Due West on Friday evening.
  • Meredith Hollinger tallied 20 kills to lead Erskine in the five-set victory as Ali Angell and Grace Schneider followed with double-digit kills.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae heads to Spartanburg, South Carolina for a league matchup with Converse tomorrow afternoon. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start inside the Weisiger Center.
