SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Lees-McRae women's volleyball earned the four-set victory at Converse on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas play.
Sydney Stigler led the Bobcats with a double-double with 14 kills and 21 digs.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Lees-McRae def. Converse, 3-1 (25-23, 16-25, 25-23, 25-22)

RECORDS: Lees-McRae (5-18/4-9); Converse (6-15/3-10)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Stigler and Lees-McRae tallied a 2-0 lead in the first set before Converse rallied for straight points. The Bobcats knotted the set at 5-5 and grabbed the lead at 22-21 after a kill by Julia Emore. Emore and the Bobcats picked up the first set at 25-23 after another kill via Emore.
- The Valkyries used a couple of big runs in the second set to pull away with the 25-16 set victory and even the match at one set apiece. Converse outhit Lees-McRae by a clip of .250 to .026 in the second frame.
- The Bobcats got back on track in the third set after a four-point swing at 13-12 in the middle of the set. Converse went back in front after six straight points at 20-17, but the Bobcats were resilient with their own six-point run to seize the 23-20 advantage. Destiny Holley put an exclamation point on the third set with a solo block at 25-23.
- Lees-McRae and Converse traded points early on in the fourth set, but the Bobcats used another six-point swing to pull ahead at 21-20. Lees-McRae picked up the set victory and match after breaking the tie at 22-all with three consecutive points. Emore served up an ace to give the Bobcats their fourth victory in league play.
- Stigler had a match-high 14 kills and produced a double-double with 21 digs for the standout freshman. Hailey Gilreath and Emore followed with 11 kills apiece and Madison Goins registered 23 assists in the win.
- Bre Adamson had a career-high 25 digs to lead the Bobcats on the defensive end as Holley contributed five total blocks at the net.
FOR THE VALKYRIES:
- Converse outhit the Bobcats, .178 to .109, in the four-set setback with 53 total kills for the Valkyries.
- Jasmine Finkley led Converse with 13 kills and Mackenzie Day tallied a match-high 29 digs in the loss.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae returns to the McNair & Debi Tornow Court on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. for a league matchup at Southern Wesleyan. The contest on Wednesday is the home finale for the Bobcats for the 2022 season.
