MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -- Lees-McRae women's volleyball dropped a tough three-set match in Conference Carolinas play on Friday night at Mount Olive.
Sydney Stigler led the Bobcats on the evening with a match-high 11 digs.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Mount Olive def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-19)
LOCATION: Kornegay Arena -- Mount Olive, N.C.
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (7-21/6-11); Mount Olive (20-8/13-2)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the first set, Lees-McRae tied the score at 20 apiece after Mount Olive had a bad set. The Trojans went on a 3-0 run to lead 23-20 and took the set at 25-21.
- The Bobcats rallied to tie the second set at 15-15 with six straight points and was capped off by a kill by Destiny Holley. UMO tallied the next three out of four points and recorded the set victory at 25-21.
- Lees-McRae held an early set lead at 4-3 in the third set, but Mount Olive rattled off six consecutive points in the middle stages of the set at 18-14 and earned the sweep with the 25-19 set win.
- Stigler had 11 spikes on 23 attacks for the Bobcats and Julia Emore followed with eight kills. Emore also had a team-high 13 assists in the contest.
- Bre Adamson recorded 11 digs for Lees-McRae in three sets and Holley registered four total blocks in the match.
FOR THE TROJANS:
- Starr Sergent and Ele'sia Williams paced the Trojans with seven kills each and Jenna Myer dished out a match-high 16 assists in the three-set victory.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae is back on the court on Tuesday, Nov. 1 when the Bobcats head to Franklin Springs, Georgia for a league matchup with Emmanuel. The first serve of the regular-season finale is scheduled for 7 p.m.
