BOONE, N.C. – Lees-McRae women's basketball headed to nearby Division I Appalachian State on Monday night as the Bobcats fell 67-33 to the Mountaineers.
Essence Sumner led the Bobcats with 10 points in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- App State got on the board first with a free throw by Mariah Frazier at the 8:01 mark of the first quarter and extended their lead to 5-0 before Logan Dutka made the first basket of the game for the Bobcats with 5:49 remaining in the first. The Mountaineers took the opening quarter 13-2 after a made free throw via Brooke Bigott.
- In the second quarter, App State extended its advantage to 24-9 with the end of the first 20 minutes. The Mountaineers used a strong third quarter as they pushed their lead to 50-20 after 30 minutes of action. App State secured the 67-33 victory on Monday evening.
- Sumner paced the Bobcats with 10 points on 4-15 shooting and Rachel Leath followed with six points in 15 minutes of action.
FOR THE MOUNTAINEERS:
- Bigott recorded 13 points on 5-11 shooting for App State with two three-pointers on the night. Janay Sanders followed Bigott in the scoring column with 12 points and Emily Carver collected nine points in the win.
- App State held a significant margin in fast break points with 27 to the Bobcats' two on the evening.

Lees-McRae women's basketball returns to the floor on Wednesday, Nov. 16 when the Bobcats head to Hickory, N.C. for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with Lenoir-Rhyne.
