Women's Basketball Drops Wednesday Night Contest to Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. – Lees-McRae women's basketball fell on the road to Lenoir-Rhyne by a final of 90-52. Jala Holloman recorded 14 points on 5-10 shooting to lead the Bobcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Lees-McRae went on a 4-0 run to tie the score at nine apiece with 6:14 remaining in the first after a three-pointer by Holloman. The Bobcats closed the quarter on a 9-3 run after a three by Jessica Henderson as the two sides were even after the opening quarter.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne used a 13-point swing in the second half to carry the 42-29 lead into halftime and added to their advantage as the Bears held the 66-38 through 30 minutes of play. LR earned the 90-52 victory on Wednesday night after shooting 45.6% (31-68) from the field and 24-30 from the charity stripe.
  •  Holloman knocked in four three-pointers for the Bobcats as she had a team-high 14 points in the contest. Aurora Roberts followed with 11 points on 4-12 shooting and Sandra Mason chipped in eight points off the bench.
  • The Bobcats were 19-56 (33.9%) from the field with nine three-pointers. Lees-McRae went 5-10 from the free-throw line also.

FOR THE BEARS:
  • Azariah Fields and Brandi Hudson paced Lenoir-Rhyne in the victory with 16 points apiece on a combined 10-20 from the field. Emily Harman followed with 14 points for the Bears and Blaikely Crooks added 10 points in 13 minutes of action.
  • LR held the advantage inside the paint with 42 to the Bobcats' 16. Lenoir-Rhyne had 33 fast break points in the game also.
