FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Lees-McRae women's basketball team outscored the host Lions 44-24 in the second half, with
Aurora Roberts,
Dianna Spence, and
Jala Holloman all scoring in double figures, but it was not enough as Emmanuel picked up a 69-60 home win in the Conference Carolinas opener for both teams this evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lees-McRae sprinted out of the gates by scoring 10 of the first 14 points, but Emmanuel closed the first 10 minutes of action on a 19-0 run to claim a 23-10 advantage at the first intermission.
- The Lions outscored the Bobcats 22-6 in the second frame to extend their lead to 45-16 at the halftime whistle.
- Lees-McRae slowly chipped away at the lead in the third quarter and used a late layup by Roberts and a jumper by Holloman to cut the deficit to 58-33 at the final intermission.
- After Emmanuel pushed the lead back to 63-38, the Bobcats closed the contest on a 22-6 run in a five-minute span, highlighted by a combined 14 points by Holloman and Spence during that time frame.
- The Lions converted free throws down the stretch to clinch the conference victory.
- Emmanuel held a 24-12 advantage in bench production and a 15-7 edge in fast-break points.
FOR THE LIONS:
- Jeanetta Elder paced the Lions with a game-high 21 points, while Jazmin Allen chipped in a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
- Emmanuel shot 21 of 51 from the field (41.2 percent) and held a 34-29 advantage in rebounding.
