BELMONT, N.C. –
Michael Marsans and
Max Kuntz both finished with double-digit kills, while
Bradley Peters chipped in 28 assists, but it was not enough as host Belmont Abbey finished with a 42-32 advantage in kills en route to clinching the four-set win over the visiting Bobcats in the Conference Carolinas action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Marsans paced the Bobcats with 12 kills and a .360 hitting percentage, while Kuntz added 10 kills, two block assists and a .350 hitting percentage.
- Peters also chipped in a solo block, a service ace, and block assist, while M.J. Doyle tallied a team-high six digs, two block assists, and two kills.
- Lees-McRae and Belmont Abbey traded runs in the first set until the Crusaders used a 6-0 run to grab momentum en route to winning the first set, 25-16.
- The Bobcats opened the second frame with a 7-3 run and used back-to-back kills by Nicholas Brewster and Kuntz to hold a 14-11 lead.
- Belmont Abbey responded with a 7-0 run to reclaim the lead.
- Both teams once again traded points down the stretch until a late kill by the Crusaders gave Belmont Abbey the 25-22 win in set two.
- The lead changed hands on multiple occasions in the third set, with the Bobcats using a kill by Kuntz and three Crusader errors to even the score at 20-20.
- Belmont Abbey closed the match by scoring five of the final six points to clinch the conference win.
- The Crusaders held a slim 4-1 edge in service aces and a 5-4 advantage in total blocks.
FOR THE FOES:
- Three Crusaders finished with double-digit kills, led by Andrew Kohut with a match-high 14 kills.

The Bobcats will travel to Barton on Friday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. to start a three-match road trip.
