Men’s Volleyball stumbles against Emmanuel in three

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.Michael Marsans finished with a match-high 20 kills, while Bradley Peters nearly chipped in a double-double with 26 assists and nine digs, but it was not enough as host Emmanuel clinched a three-set win over the visiting Bobcats in the close out the Conference Carolinas weekend for both teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Marsans also finished with a .286 hitting percentage, three block assists, and seven digs, while Peters also added two kills and two block assists.
  • Max Kuntz chipped in nine kills, a solo block, and three block assists.
  • After a back-and-forth first set, Emmanuel used a 14-8 run to take a 23-17 lead late in the frame.
  • Lees-McRae used a pair of Lion service errors and kills by Marsans to cut the lead to 24-21, but a final kill by Emmanuel clinched the first set with a 25-21 win.
  • Both teams traded points early in the second set as well, with the Bobcats using an 8-2 run to grab momentum with a 15-10 lead.
  • Emmanuel used a run of their own and closed the set on a 5-2 run to win the second set with a 25-21 victory.
  • Lees-McRae and Emmanuel traded runs early in the third set as the score remained even at 19-19.
  • The Bobcats used an attacking error by the Lions and a kill by Marsans to take a 23-22 and 24-23 lead respectively, but timely points by Emmanuel clinched the conference win with a 28-26 win in set three.
  • Lees-McRae held an 8-6 edge in total blocks and a slim 35-34 advantage in assists.
 
FOR THE FOES:
  • Gustavo Cavalcanti tallied a team-high 14 kills and 12 digs, while Henrik Westhoff added 31 assists and six digs.
 
UP NEXT:
The Bobcats will return to the McNair & Debi Tornow Court on Tuesday, March 29 as they host Queens (N.C.) in a non-conference match.
