BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae women's soccer earned its first victory of the 2022 season after a commanding 3-0 win over Bluefield State on a rainy Saturday afternoon on Tate Field.
Taylor Barrineau collected her fourth goal of the season as
Lexi Hanson and
Alexa Todd added goals for the Bobcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Todd got the Bobcats on the board in the 14th-minute mark off a drop ball with Hannah Davies having the assist in the first goal of the day.
- Barrineau doubled the lead for Lees-McRae off a through ball via Sarah Jones in the 33rd minute of action. The Bobcats and Bluefield State headed to the locker room with Lees-McRae up by two goals.
- Hanson buried the third goal for the Bobcats in the 71st minute with Brooke Allen getting credit for the assist.
- Lees-McRae outshot Bluefield State,25-1, with 17 shots on target for the Bobcats.
- Haile Desmarais earned her first clean sheet of the season while facing no shots on goal on the afternoon.
FOR THE BIG BLUE:
- Rylee Truslow had a match-high 14 saves in goal for Bluefield State, but Truslow allowed three goals on the day.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae returns for the second match of its three-match homestand on Sept. 14 when the Bobcats host Emmanuel (Ga.) in a Conference Carolinas matchup at Tate Field. The kick is slated for a 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
