BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae women's volleyball dropped a tough four-set match in its Conference Carolinas opener and home debut against Converse this evening.
Julia Emore,
Hailey Gilreath,
Sydney Stigler,and
Annalaine Tew all had double-digit kills for the Bobcats in the match.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Converse def. Lees-McRae, 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 28-26, 25-16)

RECORDS: Lees-McRae (0-10/0-1), Converse (5-5/2-0)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Bobcats jumped out a set lead after earning the 25-20 set to open their home debut inside Williams Gymnasium. Lees-McRae used a three-point run to cap the opening frame with a service ace via Madison Goins.
- In the second set, Converse evened the match at a set apiece with the 25-21 set win after a hitting percentage of .306.
- Lees-McRae battled in the third set to force an extended set as the Valkyries came out on top with the 28-26 win.
- Converse collected its second win in conference action after posting the 25-16 victory in the fourth set.
- The Valkyries had a hitting percentage of .239 to the Bobcats' .156 with 57 total kills for Converse.
- Stigler led the Bobcats with 11 kills on the night and added a double-double with 12 digs.
- Gilreath followed with 10 kills and 11 as Emore missed out on a triple-double by one dig while contributing 10 kills and 20 assists.
- Tew tallied 10 kills also in four sets and added two blocks and two digs for the Bobcats.
FOR THE VALKYRIES:
- Evelyn Fitz had a game-high 16 kills for Converse in four sets to go along with 14 digs as Megan Carpenter followed with 12 kills on the evening.
- Mackenzie Schmucker and Savannah Ducote registered 19 and 18 assists respectively in the match for the Valkyries.
