Women's Volleyball falls in matches against Newberry and West Alabama

NEWBERRY, S.C. -- On Friday, the Lees-McRae women's volleyball dropped two matches against Newberry College and West Alabama inside Newberry's Eleazer Arena.

GAME 1 BASICS

FINAL SCORE: Newberry def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (26-24, 25-15, 25-13)
Location: Eleazer Arena -- Newberry, South Carolina
Records: Newberry (2-3); Lees-McRae (0-5)

How It Happened: For The Wolves:
  • Samantha Shaffer had a match-high 10 kills for Newberry as Kate Brown added nine.
  • Avery Webb had 14 assists for the Wolves and Paige Patrick contributed 11 on the day.
  • Kannyn Boyd led the Wolves with 10 digs.

GAME 2 BASICS

FINAL SCORE: West Alabama def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-15)
Location: Eleazer Arena -- Newberry, South Carolina
Records: West Alabama (2-4); Lees-McRae (0-6)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Tew collected eight kills in the match for the Bobcats as Ryan chipped in five.
  • Julia Emore had two service aces to lead the Bobcats.
  • Goins contributed 10 assists in the contest as Emore followed with six.
  • Gilreath led on the defensive front with 11 digs and Adamson chipped in seven.
FOR THE TIGERS:
  • Madison Fisher and Amelia Johnigan led West Alabama with seven kills apiece and Chyna Dixon contributed six in the win.
  • Dixon tallied a match-high 13 assists for the Tigers with Maddie Van Dyke adding 10.
UP NEXT:

Lees-McRae is back in action tomorrow afternoon with two matches against Valdosta State. The first serve of thr first contest is slated for 12 p.m. at Newberry College.
