CENTRAL, S.C. – Lees-McRae women's volleyball collected its first victory in Conference Carolinas play with a 3-1 win over Southern Wesleyan on Tuesday night.
Sydney Stigler paced the Bobcats with nine kills and 21 digs as
Julia Emore and
Annalaine Tew followed with seven kills apiece.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Lees-McRae def. Southern Wesleyan, 3-1 (17-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-13)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Bobcats jumped out to a quick 3-1 lead in the first set before the Warriors rallied for six consecutive points for the 7-3 advantage. SWU maintained the set lead and earned the first set by a score of 25-17.
- Lees-McRae matched the hosts in the second frame of the match as back-to-back kills by the Bobcats gave them the early lead at 5-2. Lees-McRae pushed its advantage to 22-17 after a service ace via Rebecca Ryan as the contest was knotted at a set apiece with a kill by Hailey Gilreath.
- The third set proved to be all Bobcats as a seven-point swing in the middle of the set led them to a set advantage. Stigler put the third set away for Lees-McRae with a kill as the Bobcats earned the set at 25-15.
- In the fourth set, four kills in a row got the Bobcats going with a 4-0 lead as Emore capped the run with a kill off an assist by Madison Goins. Lees-McRae held its advantage throughout the set as the Bobcats earned its first victory of the season in four sets.
- Stigler led the Bobcats in kills with nine as fellow classmates Emore and Tew followed with seven kills each. Goins started the offensive attack with 19 assists and Emore tallied 14 in the four-set victory.
- Stigler produced four service aces to go along with a team-high 21 digs as Bre Adamson contributed 18 digs from her libero position.
- Destiny Holley registered five total blocks with Tew adding four blocks on the night.
- The Bobcats tallied 39 kills on the night to the Warriors' 30 with nine service aces in the road victory.
FOR THE WARRIORS:
- Amber Bass led the Warriors on the evening with nine kills and 15 digs as Abigail Gannaio had six kills for Southern Wesleyan.
- Ashley Sexton dished out 14 assists and Kali Letcher followed with 10 for the Warriors.
