BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Lees-McRae men's and women's cycling top the list in the All-Southeastern Collegiate Cycling Conference (SECCC) standings after three races in the mountain biking season. Maria Döring leads the Bobcats in the Women's A standings with first place in gravity and posting third in the endurance ranks throughout the season.
As a program, Lees-McRae leads the standings with 2,032 total points with Truett McConnell and Brevard following in second and third respectively. The Bobcats, as a whole, tallied a season-high 690 points at the Auburn University Mountain Race on Sept. 3 and 4.
In the Men's A standings,
Josh Foley paces the Bobcats in third place individually as he ranks first in the endurance standings with 409 total points. Foley has picked up solid podium finishes throughout the first part of the season with a first-place finish in the Cross Country Men's A Race at Auburn.
Matthew Robertson and
David Schuster guide Lees-McRae in the Men's B standings with the top two spots covered as Robertson holds first place with 377 total points. Schuster follows with 318 points as
Ben Luna rounds out the top five in fourth place with 286 total points.
In the Women's C standings,
Abigail Marshall is holding steady in third place individually with a victory in the Cross Country Women's C race in Auburn and a third-place finish in the Cross Country Women's C race at Truett McConnell.
Lees-McRae registered a fifth-place in the overall team omnium at last year's USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships with Mady Rails taking home fifth place in the Women's Individual Omnium in Durango, Colorado.
Lees-McRae men's and women's cycling are hosting the High Country Collegiate MTB Challenge this weekend in Banner Elk with live video coverage of the races starting on Sunday morning.
