Women's Basketball Falls at Converse on Tuesday Night, 60-48

SPARTANBURG, N.C. – Lees-McRae women's basketball had two double-digit scoring runs in tonight's Conference Carolinas matchup with Converse, but the Valkyries earned the 60-48 win with five three-pointers via Colbie Perry.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Jala Holloman and Aurora Roberts led the Bobcats with 12 points apiece on a combined 6-14 shooting from the field and seven steals in tonight's contest with Converse.
  • The Valkyries took an early 4-0 lead and held the seven-point advantage after one period of play via a Sydney Wilson layup.
  • Lees-McRae answered in the second quarter with a 10-0 run that gave the Bobcats the one-point lead, but Converse went on a 14-1 run to seize the 35-23 decision at the halftime break.
  • The Bobcats battled back once more in the third with a 14-0 run of their own to cut the deficit to one point, but the Valkyries closed the third quarter with seven points of their own to lead 46-39 heading into the final stanza.
  • Converse was able to withstand the Bobcats in the final ten minutes and secured the 60-48 on Tuesday evening.
  • Lees-McRae recorded 25 points off the bench and grabbed 13 offensive rebounds in the contest.
  • Jessica Henderson tallied eight points in 31 minutes of action and Thailand Smith had six points and five rebounds for the Bobcats.

FOR THE VALKYRIES:
  • Perry was the only Valkyrie to knock down a three-pointer in the game with a game-high five for 15 points and Wilson followed in scoring column with 14.
UP NEXT:

Lees-McRae women's basketball heads to Bristol, Tennessee for the "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" matchup with King (Tenn.) on Saturday, Jan. 14. The contest is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
