DUE WEST, S.C. – Lees-McRae women's volleyball moved their win streak to four on Saturday afternoon with a four-set victory at Erskine.
Destiny Holley led the Bobcats with 18 kills and
Sydney Stigler followed with 10 kills and 11 digs.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Lees-McRae def. Erskine, 3-1 (25-11, 21-25, 25-11, 25-17)
LOCATION: Galloway Center – Due West, South Carolina
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (11-6/8-2), Erskine (2-17/2-7)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lees-McRae went on a 6-0 run to lead 16-4 in the first set and a kill by Rebecca Ryan started the three-point run to give the Bobcats the one-set lead.
- Erskine answered back in the second set after knotting the set at 15 points and rallied with five consecutive points to earn the set at 25-21.
- The Bobcats notched the third in a similar fashion to the first at 25-11 after leading 20-9 from a service ace via Nicole Osborne. Erskine recorded a service error at 25-11 as Lees-McRae once again regained the one-set advantage.
- Lees-McRae weathered an early run by the Flying Fleet at 5-2 and took the 11-9 advantage after a kill from Nina Vallesi. Stigler collected back-to-back kills as the Bobcats won the set, 25-17, and the match in four on Saturday afternoon.
- Madison Goins dished out 43 assists and added three aces and four digs in the contest. Lauren Xayavong recorded her eighth match of the season with 20 or more digs with 27 on the defensive front.
- Ryan narrowly missed double-digit kills with nine on a .358 hitting percentage and Patrycja Rykala joined Ryan with nine kills on the day. Vallesi contributed 12 digs in four sets for the Bobcats.
- Lees-McRae also notched a season-high in hitting percentage at .374 with 52 total kills.
FOR THE FLYING FLEET:
- Ali Angell had a team-high 13 kills for Erskine and Rebecca Yohe followed with 11 in the match.
