Women's Soccer Registers Third Straight Draw of Season with 1-1 Tie at Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. Taylor Barrineau tallied her sixth goal of the season as Lees-McRae women's soccer collected their sixth draw of the season with the 1-1 tie at Emmanuel on Saturday. The six draws are the most in program history since the program started in 1987.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Barrineau quickly got the Bobcats on the board with a little over two minutes off in the first half of the contest. Emmanuel answered 54 seconds later off a free kick goal from Shania Wegesend.
  • Lees-McRae added three more shots on target in the first with opportunities by Jordan Bartlinski, Haley Lowman, and Kalee Wiltshire but Emmanuel's goalkeeper Hannah Thompson made the saves.
  • Maddie Campo made the first of five saves on the day in the 39th minute to keep the score even as the two sides went into the halftime break tied at 1-1.
  • The Bobcats continued their pressure in their offensive half with Hannah Davies having an opportunity in the 84th minute, but the Lion goalkeeper kept the match tied at one. Campo made one last save with 25 seconds remaining in the contest after a shot by Kyla Williams of Emmanuel.
  • Davies led the Bobcats with two shots on goal as Lees-McRae had seven shots on target in 90 minutes of play. 

FOR THE LIONS:
  • Thompson made six stops in goal for Emmanuel on the afternoon and Wegesend led the Lions with two shots on goal in the match
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae women's soccer will now play No. 5 Mount Olive in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Championships on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in Mount Olive.
