BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae men's basketball led for nearly 36 minutes of game action in tonight's 76-48 victory over Converse.
Jeremy Golson led all scorers with 14 points on 4-7 from three-point range.
Brandon Brown and
Sidney Dollar each chipped 10 points for the Bobcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Dollar made the first basket of the game for either side at the 16:51 mark of the first half, but Converse's Jay Mitchell answered with a three-pointer 10 seconds later. Brown knotted the score at four apiece and the Valkyries did not lead the rest of the way.
- Golson connected on his first three game to give Lees-McRae the 7-4 advantage and Follie Bogan made the score 9-4 with 15:25 left in the first half. Golson made his second three-pointer of the night with 10:47 left in the first as the Bobcats grew its lead to 13 points and took the 30-19 advantage into the halftime break.
- Williams Onyeodi pushed the Bobcat lead to 18 points on a fastbreak layup and LJ Rogers made a three to stop a 5-0 scoring run from Converse. Brown increased the lead for Lees-McRae with three dunks in a span of two minutes. Stewart joined Brown with a dunk of his own at 57-36 and the Bobcats ran away with the 76-48 win in Conference Carolinas action.
- In the second half, Lees-McRae shot an impressive 60.0% (21-35) from the floor as the Bobcats coasted to their second consecutive victory at 28-point margin. Lees-McRae recorded 17 assists on 33 made baskets and 17 steals in the contest.
- Lees-McRae held Converse to a season-low 48 points with the Valkyries only shooting 26.8% (15-56) from the field. The Bobcats also scored 23 points off 23 Converse turnovers and held the advantage in fast break points with 27 to the Valkyries' eight.
FOR THE VALKYRIES:
- Trey Smith was the lone Valkyrie in double figures with 13 points as he went 6-6 from the charity stripe. Uzziah Dawkins and Mitchell each had eight points on the evening.
