Irelynd Manning began her freshman season with a two-goal game as Lees-McRae women's lacrosse fell 18-3 to UVA Wise on Thursday.
Genesis Lutsky recorded a goal and
Meredith Johnson tallied five draw controls for the Bobcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- UVA Wise started their 2023 campaign with 12 consecutive goals before Lutsky put the Bobcats on the board at the 13:26 mark of the third quarter.
- Manning collected her first career goal with 54 seconds remaining in the third and her second goal was scored at the 6:27 mark of the fourth period. The Cavaliers earned the 18-3 victory after Kaila Lacey registered a marker with one second left in the contest.
- Lees-McRae went 10-18 on clear attempts and the Cavaliers went 15-19 on clearances in the contest. UVA Wise picked up 23 ground balls and won 14-24 from the draw control position.
- Johnson had an assist to go along with five draw controls and one ground ball pickup. Haley Donovan caused six Cavalier turnovers on the day and registered four draw controls in the game.
- Mckenzie Mellen had the start in goal for the Bobcats and saved three shots. Tori Meiss tallied one save in six shots on goal in the second half for Lees-McRae.
FOR THE CAVALIERS:
- Abby Stoffelen paced UVA Wise with a hat trick and produced four shots on goal, one ground ball, and one draw control. Five Cavaliers followed with two goals apiece in today's victory.
- Olivia Toomer earned the win in goal for the Cavaliers as she collected four saves in the first half.
UP NEXT:
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, Feb. 18 as they will welcome Catawba for a non-conference contest. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start on Tate Field.
