FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. –

M.J. Doyle, and
Michael Marsans combined for 44 kills on Friday night as Lees-McRae men's volleyball fell in five sets to Emmanuel (Ga.).
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Emmanuel def. Lees-McRae, 3-2 (25-17, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20)
LOCATION: Shaw Athletic Center – Franklin Springs, Georgia
RECORDS: Emmanuel (8-15/3-8), Lees-McRae (8-11/4-4)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Bobcats had 61 kills on the evening to Emmanuel's 49 kills, but the Lions outhit Lees-McRae .234 to .227 in a five-set thriller. Lees-McRae had their best hitting performance in the first and fourth set with a hitting average of .385.
- Bradley Peters distributed 49 assists in the contest and added four service aces to his season totals.
- Sebastian Heer led the Bobcats with two total blocks and Ben Ratliff-Becher had a season-best 10 digs in the match.
- Backer had a hitting percentage of .556 for the Bobcats to go along with 11 kills on 18 total attempts. Marsans tallied a match-high 18 kills on 38 attempts and Doyle followed with 15 kills and hitting percentage of .300.
- Emmanuel forced a fifth and final set after taking set four by a 25-22 margin. The Lions, in the fifth set, jumped out to an early 4-1 advantage but the Bobcats rallied back to knot the set score at 13-13. Harrison Coelho and Jayden Young combined for the double block to give Emmanuel the five-set victory on their home court.
FOR THE LIONS:
- Young recorded 17 kills on 38 attempts and Carlos Guerrero followed in double-digit kills with 12.
- Henrik Westhoff started the offensive side of the ball for Emmanuel with 39 assists along with five total blocks and two service aces.
