SPARTANBURG, S.C. –
Shannan Korovich and
Mckenzie Mellen combined for six goals, but the Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team was defeated by Converse 18-8 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Converse staked out an early 7-0 lead before Korovich found the back of the net for her 12th goal of the season with 2:43 left in the first quarter.
- Korovich scored her second goal of the game at the 13:33 mark of the second quarter and third with 6:03 left in the first half. The Bobcats trailed 12-5 after the opening half.
- Mellen tallied her second marker of the game with one second left in the game, but Lees-McRae ultimately fell 18-8 on Saturday afternoon.
- Genesis Lutsky and Haley Smith joined their fellow Bobcats in the scoring column with one goal apiece. Korovich finished the day with four goals and two assists.
- Mellen picked up five ground balls and added one caused turnover in the contest.
- Aviva Beringhause made a career-high 22 saves for Lees-McRae in the afternoon.
FOR THE VALKYRIES:
- Brenna Everette paced Converse with five goals on the day and Ryleigh Schaeffer tallied four in the game. Hailey Obenchain recorded a hat trick and Rhianna Warner rounded out the Valkyries multiple goals with two.
- Reagan Collins made seven stops in goal in today's win.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae women's lacrosse returns to Tate Field on Thursday, April 6 for a non-conference matchup with Tusculum. The contest is slated for a 5 p.m. start.
