Women's Lacrosse Falls Short in Conference Carolinas Action against North Greenville, 13-10

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae women's lacrosse battled North Greenville in today's Conference Carolinas matchup, but the Crusaders collected the 13-10 victory.

FINAL SCORE: North Greenville – 13; Lees-McRae – 10
LOCATION: Tate Field – Banner Elk, North Carolina
RECORDS: North Greenville (9-5/6-1), Lees-McRae (2-8/2-5)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Shannan Korovich led the Bobcats with a hat trick while Nim Castro, Hailey Donovan, and Genesis Lutsky all tallied two goals in today's effort.
  • Aviva Beringhause made 10 saves in goal for Lees-McRae and picked up two ground balls.
  • Lutsky got the Bobcats on the board first with 13:15 left in the first period off an assist via Castro.
  • Donovan netted the second goal and gave Lees-McRae the 2-1 advantage at the 7:36 mark of the first period. NGU scored three consecutive goals before Hailey Smith found the back of the net with 1:24 left in the first.
  • The Crusaders tallied six goals in the second period and went into the halftime break with the 10-3 lead.
  • Lees-McRae did not go away in the second half as Korovich buried back-to-back goals in the third to bring the score to 10-5.
  • North Greenville held on for the 13-10 win after Castro and Korovich scored once more in the final three minutes of the contest.

FOR THE CRUSADERS:
  • Dani O'Meara led the Crusaders with five goals and one assist. Emily Zambrano netted a hat trick to go along with one assist and Emma Mayew joined them with multiple goals on the day with two and one assist also.
  • Tori Smith earned the win in goal for North Greenville after making eight stops in the game.

Lees-McRae women's lacrosse heads to Franklin Springs, Georgia on Saturday, April 15 to face Emmanuel in Conference Carolinas action.
