Men's Soccer Battles Barton to 1-1 Draw

WILSON N.C. Noah Daragmeh scored his second career goal as Lees-McRae men's soccer battled Barton to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday afternoon in Wilson, North Carolina. Jonathan Kienle collected five saves in goal for the Bobcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Harrison Watts had the first shot on target for Lees-McRae in the 13th minute, but Barton's Steingrimur Gunnarsson made the first of five saves in net for the Bulldogs. Watts recorded another shot a minute later, but Gunnarsson kept the ball out of the goal.
  • Fletcher Dyson tallied a shot on goal in the 28th minute and Nils Schulze had a shot saved by a Barton defender in the 29th minute. The two sides entered the halftime break deadlocked at zero.
  • Barton got on the board first with a goal from Tommy Migliarotti in the 50th minute off a pass from Kai Thurston. Barton had a quality chance in the 52nd minute, but Kienle held the Bulldogs to one goal on the day.
  • Daragmeh was rewarded in the 54th minute as he evened the match at one goal apiece off an assist from Owen Smith.
  • Santi Balza had the last shot on goal for either side with 51 seconds remaining, but Barton and Lees-McRae settled for the 1-1 draw.
  • The Bobcats and Bulldogs were even on shots, 16-16, and Lees-McRae held the slight advantage in shots on goal at 7-6. Lees-McRae had eight corners to Barton's seven.

FOR THE BULLDOGS:
  • Gunnarsson held onto five of the six shots he faced on the day. The Bulldog defense had one team save and Migliarotti notched his fourth goal of the season.
