BELMONT, N.C. – Lees-McRae men's basketball senior
Timon Jones scored his 1,000th career point this evening at Belmont Abbey, but the Bobcats ultimately fell to the Crusaders on Tuesday, 96-80.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lees-McRae jumped out to a 20-7 lead after Jeremy Golson buried a three with 15:08 remaining in the first half. Belmont Abbey gained the lead at the 10:07 mark of the first half with a three of their own.
- The Bobcats regained the lead after three-pointer Jones with 7:26 remaining in the opening half, but the Crusaders used a 9-0 run to end the half and held the 49-41 advantage.
- Lees-McRae cut the deficit to seven points after a layup from Jones in the second half, but Belmont Abbey collected the 96-80 Conference Carolinas on Tuesday evening.
- Jones used nine points in the first half to secure 1,000 career points at Lees-McRae and finished with 11 points on the night.
- Ja'Quavian Florence and Jaylin Stewart paced the Bobcats with 15 points apiece. LJ Rogers joined Florence, Jones, and Stewart in double figures with 10 points. Sidney Dollar had six points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals in tonight's contest.
FOR THE CRUSADERS:
- Mason Taylor had a game-high 20 points to lead Belmont Abbey in the win. D.J. Holloway and Wade Jackson followed with 18 points each.
- Belmont Abbey shot an efficient 34-59 (57.6%) from the floor and 19-27 (70.37%) in the first half.
