BELMONT, N.C. – Lees-McRae women's basketball dropped a tough 72-40 contest at Belmont Abbey on Tuesday evening in Belmont.
Nadiya Hairston had 10 points to lead the Bobcats and
Kirsten Watt collected eight points on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Belmont Abbey jumped out to an early 9-0 run, but Logan Dutka and Dianna Spence cut the deficit to three points off two three-pointers for the Bobcats. The Crusaders then went on a 16-1 run to the end the first quarter.
- The Crusaders added to their lead in the second quarter at 37-18 and earned the Conference Carolinas by a 72-40 final.
- Hairston went 4-9 from the field for 10 points and recorded three rebounds and one assist in the contest. Watt followed with eight points, two rebounds, and one assist.
- Dutka and Aleysha Hill each tallied five points apiece for Lees-McRae. Spence and Layla Tillery produced four points each and Tillery had seven rebounds in the game.
FOR THE CRUSADERS:
- Riley James guided Belmont Abbey to the victory with 19 points and collected six assists. Abigail Crain registered a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae women's basketball returns to the McNair & Debi Tornow Court on Saturday, Feb. 17 for a 2 p.m. matchup with North Greenville. The Bobcats will recognize seniors before the contest.
