Women's Basketball Battles North Greenville on Senior Day

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Kirsten Watt scored a game-high 19 points in 36 minutes of play for Lees-McRae women's basketball today. The Bobcats fell to North Greenville on Saturday afternoon, 80-72. HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Aleysha Hill buried a three-pointer to open the scoring and the Bobcats led 6-2 after Watt tallied a three with 8:37 left in the first quarter. North Greenville claimed the first quarter by a score of 23-13.
  • The Bobcats battled back in the second quarter after back-to-back threes from Nadiya Hairston and Dianna Spence cut the deficit to four points. Layla Tillery cut the Crusader lead to one point after a jumper, but NGU took the 39-36 advantage into the half with a made basket from Mia Wysong.
  • Lees-McRae went on a 8-0 run in the third quarter to take the 48-46 lead, North Greenville regained the lead after a three from Greyson Boone. NGU held a slim four-point margin after 30 minutes of play.
  • The Bobcats used one last run on Saturday afternoon to cut the deficit back to four points after a layup from Watt, but North Greenville recorded the 80-72 win on the McNair & Debi Tornow Court.
  • Watt had a season-high 19 points for the Bobcats on 8-11 shooting and 3-4 from three-point range. Emily Barr, Hairston, and Spence all collected 12 points in the contest. Barr registered a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

FOR THE CRUSADERS:
  • Greyson Boone led four Crusaders in double-digit scoring with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Tabitha Littlefield had 17 points on 8-13 shooting and Geassy Germano collected 14 points and seven rebounds. Abi Oates rounded out NGU in double figures with 10 points.
  • Amaijah Smith recorded six points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in an all-around effort for North Greenville.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae women's basketball concludes the regular season with three road contests beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Converse.
