SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Lees-McRae women's basketball dropped a tough 72-52 loss at Converse on Wednesday evening.
Nadiya Hairston and
Essence Sumner each had eight points for the Bobcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Converse jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter and led 22-12 after the first 10 minutes of play. The Valkyries increased their lead to 14 points at halftime after a layup from Jordan Brown.
- Converse tacked onto its lead in the second half at 55-24, but Lees-McRae closed the quarter on a 6-0 run and trailed 55-30.
- Sumner added a three-point play with 52 seconds remaining as the Bobcats fell to Converse 72-52 in Spartanburg this evening.
- Hairston and Sumner combined for 16 points for Lees-McRae in the contests. Dianna Spence and Thailand Smith each collected six points.
FOR THE VALKYRIES:
- Sydney Wilson recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead Converse in the win. Brown and Elisa Solé Sanchez joined Wilson in double-digit scoring with 16 and 13 points, respectively.
