SUMTER, S.C. – Lees-McRae men's tennis opened its 2024 spring season with two matches on Saturday at the Palmetto Tennis Center. The Bobcats dropped their season 6-3 to USC Sumter and fell to Newberry, 5-1.
MATCH #1 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: USC Sumter – 6; Lees-McRae - 3

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Andrew Kunaka made his Bobcat debut on Saturday with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles over USC Sumter's Stanley Long.
- Cole Gibson and Andy Tallafigo joined Kunaka with straight-set victories against USC Sumter.
- Ezequiel Arce earned the first set, 7-5, at No. 3 singles, but ultimately fell in three sets.

FINAL SCORE: Newberry – 5; Lees-McRae - 1
LOCATION: Palmetto Tennis Center – Sumter, South Carolina
RECORDS: Newberry (1-1), Lees-McRae (0-2)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kunaka continued his strong set with a match victory at No. 1 singles after his opponent retired in the second set.
- Arce dropped another tough three-set match at No. 4 singles and Hudson Hoskins fell in three sets to Newberry's Thilo Lorenz.
