BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae men's volleyball battled Emmanuel to five sets on Friday evening, but the Lions recorded the victory on the McNair & Debi Tornow Court.
Ben Fincham led three Bobcats in double-digit kills with 18 as
M.J. Doyle and
Sebastian Heer collected 14 and 10 kills, respectively.

FINAL SCORE: Emmanuel def. Lees-McRae, 3-2 (25-22, 25-13, 23-25, 21-25, 15-13)

RECORDS: Emmanuel (8-14/3-6), Lees-McRae (1-21/0-9)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emmanuel used back-to-back points at the end of the first set to take the set advantage at 25-22. The Lions then used a 7-0 run in the second set for the 25-13 win and two-set lead.
- Lees-McRae bounced back in the third set with a four-point run at 18-13 and used an attack error from Emmanuel for the 25-23 set win.
- The Bobcats evened the match with the fourth set victory at 25-21. Nelson Castellanos powered a 3-0 scoring run for Lees-McRae at 21-19 and Sebastian Heer recorded the kill for the 25-21 set win.
- Emmanuel started the fifth set with a 7-2 lead, but Lees-McRae knotted the score at 11 points apiece after a kill from M.J. Doyle. The Lions took the 14-12 advantage off a double block and earned the win off a kill from Greg Bodus.
- Lees-McRae recorded a .167 hitting percentage in the match while Emmanuel collected 51 kills and a .281 percentage.
- B. Fincham led the Bobcats with a season-high 18 kills on a .211 hitting percentage. Heer followed with 14 kills on a .205 percentage and Doyle rounded out Lees-McRae in double figures with 10 kills on a .350 hitting percentage.
- Abdirahman Ahmed distributed 45 assists and accumulated seven kills, four blocks, and six digs in the match. Ben Ratliff-Becher had eight digs for the Bobcats.
FOR THE LIONS:
- Eli Zdonek had a match-high 22 kills to lead Emmanuel on the night. Bodus, Arturo Diaz-Dube, and Lucas Nieves registered seven kills apiece in the contest.
- Abdallah Roshdy had 43 assists in the match and Nicklas Eichenberger recorded 12 digs for the Lions.
